U.S. FALLS BEHIND IN PROTECTING WOMEN AND
CHILDREN FROM COMMERCIAL EXPLOITATION
Leading international feminists and bioethicists, alarmed by the dramatic spread of gestational surrogacy and commercial egg farming in the U.S.—buying and selling children is outlawed in many parts of the world—will hold a news conference on Tuesday, March 14 at 12:30 pm at the Benjamin Hotel at 125 East 50th Street (50th & Lexington) in Manhattan to demand Congressional action on this growing practice that harms countless women and children in the U.S.
The news conference, which will coincide with the 61st United Nations Commission on the Status of Women conference (#CSW61), will be followed by a two-hour conference entitled “Trading on the Female Body” and featuring prominent speakers in the movement to stop “eggsploitation” and surrogacy in the U.S.
