I am often found stumping for the rights of the down syndrome child and the parents of these special children. Maybe we need to put down syndrome people on the endangered species list?
This from today’s New York Times — “Prenatal Test Puts Down Syndrome in Hard Focus” This statistic, “About 90 percent of pregnant women who are given a Down syndrome diagnosis have chosen to have an abortion.” has parents of down syndrome organizing to tell people that raising a special needs child is not the end of the world, and can and often times is full of joy and delight.
