We’re using #TBT (Throw Back Thursday) to count down the top ten all time most popular posts here at CBC-Network.org.

This week’s entry, #7, is an open letter Jennifer Lahl wrote in May of this year urging Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal to weigh carefully the ramifications of a surrogacy bill headed to his desk for his signature or veto.

From “Message to Governor Bobby Jindal: Women are Mothers not Breeders”

Women have always been made to be mothers and not breeders. Enacting H.B. 187 hangs a sign out in Louisiana that says, no need to go to California anymore—we exploit women and children in the name of family here, too.

In the end, Governor Jindal vetoed the bill, and the legislature did not attempt to override the veto.

Surrogacy is sure to be on the agenda in state legislatures again in 2015, and we at the CBC will stand at the ready to provide educational assistance on this important issue wherever we are needed.
